Not everything that shines is glitter

Hey everyone it is Cïey Dada and I’m back with yet another heartwarming piece 😊

So today’s topics gone be about … (oh yay it’s a fruit salad, wait a minute ; oh yeah it’s gonna be good). Okay shall we. So we gone do a reflective piece today on a popular sad reality of society’s expectation of us. Though it seems unpopular now yet many societal expectations and or standards are hectic and the cause of so many suicidal , depression and anxiety mishaps. I know not who influenced the whole melanin pride appreciation act but I know the song BROWN SKIN GIRL created a great act of acceptance for people of colour and their mirror reflections. Yet with all the good the fact still remains that the negative has the most publicity.

Growing up a girl of colour amongst light skinned girls never bothered me because I loved the addition and difference I added to the visual. I am practically average in height , pear shaped with a cute foot , fat oval shaped face with fat cheeks and beautiful bright in colour lips to compliment my face, perfect volume of both eyebrows and eyelashes hair … and having all these features crown the person I am from within was just an addition to the countless blessings I got.

With society or even our social networks on its own already everything fits into a certain criteria, category , league and grouping. If it is not the skin tone it is the clearance of the skin especially that of the face or the body shape or the hair or the influencial power you got on the networking platform. My biggest pop up topic is currently this look with a very tiny waist line , like what expired water is that about. With the pandemic people are loosing their priceless and priced possessions or even worse their lives whilst still without Christ and you worried that you not curvy enough because your waist is not tiny as that of some public figure , like really is that what we reducing ourselves to ⁉️. The bible says we were all perfectly and wonderfully made in the image of Christ.

I ask today is all the money being spent on the attempt to perfect your waistline , get that clear face , have that it hair and or gain all the followers on social media worth it. You might say I do not know what I’m talking about perhaps because I easily grew up having accepted my reflection as is and I’ll accept that BUT and YET are all these things with the sacrifices you making because at the end of the day that same society will shame you if any of your attempts to please society back fires truly truly if this what we are reduced to for a temporary joy then I do not want it because I’d rather cry out to God and have the world judge me rather than crying to the world and God judging me.
